I am a 24-year-old Japanese composer. Through music, I think about scores, instruments, singing, concert halls, museums, internet, clubs, rap, school, not-school, the rich, the middle class, poverty, sex, fights, friendship, sadness, joy, longing, and happiness. Frankly, I want to briefly mention something I find rather uninteresting and over-discussed: AI. Recently, a friend sent me via WhatsApp some AI-generated “perfect human-like music,” ranging from pop music to experimental music and academic atonal music. That helped me understand what I should do. With AI created through postmodernism, postmodernism itself will soon be coming to an end. By being shown a completely ironic and unreal world as if it were real, we are forced to think about what reality is, and our acceptance and desires are also reversed along with it. I am a composer who does not use AI, and I will probably not use it for a while, but I do not want to make any kind of commitment or promise. We think about how to make music in order to feel some kind of meaning in what is there. My friends are doing that.
