Open call for cuators – Announcement: Onassis Stegi

Onassis Stegi and Stegi.Radio invites curators, collectives, and independent voices to apply for a new opportunity within the framework of TMLAB — a space for experimentation, collaboration, and reimagining how music is shared and experienced.

The open call seeks three curators based in Greece to become part of a transnational community that connects diverse local scenes and emerging artistic practices across Europe. Selected participants will work closely with the Onassis Stegi curatorial team, contributing to the shaping of future music events, radio programming, and collaborative formats that challenge boundaries and expand the idea of what a live or sonic experience can be.

This is an invitation to think beyond genres and geographies — to explore new narratives, uncover underrepresented sounds, and engage with audiences in inventive ways. Through mentorship and exchange, the program offers a framework for growth, dialogue, and creative risk-taking within a wider European context.

Applications are open until November 30, 2025 (23:59 EET) through the Onassis Stegi website

Stay tuned and become part of the conversation shaping the music of tomorrow.

Open call for curators – Results: Woodblocks Festival 2025

Following the TMLAB open call for emerging curators, we are excited to introduce Nola N’Guessan as the selected curator representing Kiosk Radio for Woodblock Festival 2025.

Based in Brussels, Nola brings a strong background in collective organising and a rapidly growing solo curatorial practice. Her work spans club nights, performances, and talks, always centering values of community, care, and experimentation. She is known for her thoughtful and bold programming that uplifts underrepresented voices and reimagines cultural institutions from the ground up.

Over the years, Nola has curated events at renowned venues such as Beursschouwburg and Ancienne Belgique, including the multidisciplinary series Echo Tree, the femme- and queer-focused Outrageous Without Warning, and the open-air community gathering Out Loud x Fatsabbats. She has also played a central role in collectives like Fatsabbats and Café Congo, known for their vibrant intersectional approaches to music and culture.

Looking ahead, Nola’s curatorial direction focuses on supporting emerging electronic artists and experimenting with new, inclusive curatorial structures. For Woodblocks Festival 2025, she envisions an opening night that resonates with both sonic innovation and social consciousness—amplifying sounds and stories that are too often marginalised.

Situazione Xplosiva/C2C Festival is launching a call for applications for one grant aimed at emerging curators based in Italy, as part of the TMLAB European project.

The programme covers key curatorial methodologies, audience engagement strategies and cultural production insights, including project development, artist contact, meetings, and shadowing. The selection will prioritise curators from underrepresented backgrounds that reflect the vision of C2C Festival and are aligned with the ethical, critical, and inclusive values promoted by TMLAB.

Electrónica en Abril 2025: Tradition Met Innovation in Madrid’s Longest-Running Electronic Festival

Electrónica en Abril is La Casa Encendida’s longest-running festival with more than 20 editions behind it. In its twenty-first edition, the festival changes its curatorship cycle to continue exploring the most avant-garde trends in contemporary electronic music.

Elisa Luengo takes over for the next three years of the festival. In her first proposal, she will be looking at the limits of the genre to move away from a classical conception of electronic music and explore its intersection with popular and traditional music. The programme responds to the changing musical and sociological context. Electronic music has gone from being a subculture to being fully integrated into the global scene, following the same path that genres such as jazz and rock have taken.

Among others, Colin Self, an American musician based in Berlin, who presented for the first time “GASP!”, a performative show featuring a local amateur choir, took part in the festival. Abdullah Miniawy & Maurice Louca, two of the most prolific artists on the Egyptian experimental scene. This year the festival also includes a music production workshop led by Merca Bae and a round-table discussion on the state of the Madrid electronic scene.

Open call for curators – Resutls: Puwerty Festival

The Puwerty curatorial call for 2025 and 2026 was open during the month of January 2025. The festival gives visibility to proposals from creators under 26 years of age in music and audiovisuals. The winner was Mireya Larriba (San Sebastián, 2000) who studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she began to create artistic work based on humour and pop references under the alter ego of Tomasa Crucero.

She curated the end-of-degree group exhibition of her graduating year, thus beginning her professional career as a cultural manager, which, together with her interest in teamwork, led her to study the Master’s Degree in Cultural Management at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. The  programme reflects the experience of a generation shaped by digitalization and its own unique codes, while also being deeply engaged with manual processes, multidisciplinary creation, and formal and conceptual experimentation—embracing all available tools without being limited solely to what is traditionally considered artistic.

The curatorial approach focuses primarily on unique and innovative workshops and gatherings that, rooted in niche perspectives and specificity, offer a diverse and contemporary outlook on topics such as identity expression through sustainable fashion, performative use of social media, humor, the poetic power of the body in dance, and the symbolic role of objects in writing. The concerts and DJ feature music projects that transcend genres and stand out for their distinctive staging—incorporating and referencing other artistic fields, thereby providing cohesion and a strong sense of curatorial coherence throughout the entire festival.

STEGI.RADIO Takeover 2025: Shaping the Future Sound of Contemporary Music

For two unforgettable days, the Onassis Stegi became the epicenter of contemporary electronic music, as STEGI.RADIO Takeover 2025 turned the spotlight on the sounds and ideas shaping the future of music. More than 30 pioneering artists from across the globe shared the stage, forging new creative dialogues between the local scene and the international music landscape.

From the iconic performances of Kittin and Robert Hood to the boundary-pushing, genre-defying set of Deena Abdelwahed, the festival delivered a bold and uncompromising vision of today’s sonic experimentation. Live sets expanded the possibilities of electronic music, seamlessly blending elements of club culture, sound art, and critical reflection.

A defining moment of the event was the curated listening session and discussion led by sound theorist Stoffel Debuyssere, organized in collaboration with the TMLAB Project, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. This session explored the sociopolitical dimensions of sonic practices, sparking dialogue around the role of listening as a critical and political act.

More than just a festival, STEGI.RADIO Takeover 2025 was a cultural statement—a celebration of innovation, experimentation, and the transformative power of collaboration. With the support of TMLAB, which amplifies emerging voices and promotes critical sonic practices, the event continues to challenge and redefine the very concept of what a contemporary music festival can be.
