Of Ethiopian origin, Adrasha’s sound draws on the music of East Africa and its diaspora. Her sets construct ever-changing rhythmic journeys, where the ancestral and the contemporary intertwine with a hypnotic and expansive energy.
Through her sets and compositions, Adrasha creates a dialogue between hybrid expressions such as future dancehall—a futuristic, electronic reinterpretation of Jamaican dancehall—or bounce—a hip-hop subgenre born in New Orleans, characterised by fast, repetitive rhythms—combining them with the languages of contemporary experimental electronic music. The result is performances with kinetic rhythm and sustained dynamic energy, conceived as spaces of transit, memory and collective connection.
